La Reyna

Your Experience

Discover the captivating beauty of La Reyna, a small rocky islet just north of Isla Cerralvo, approximately a 1.5-hour boat ride from La Paz. Crowned by a lighthouse and surrounded by the open waters of the Gulf of California, La Reyna is renowned as one of the most spectacular dive sites in the region. Suitable for novice to intermediate divers, the site offers an unforgettable underwater experience down to depths of around 25 meters (80 feet).

As you descend, a vibrant reef comes to life, teeming with marine biodiversity. Colorful gorgonians, brain corals, and large schools of tropical fish create a rich and ever-changing seascape. Along the reef, you may encounter graceful rays and a variety of moray eels — including green, zebra, and jeweled species — tucked into crevices or gliding through the rocks.

Often considered a must-dive destination, La Reyna is especially known for the possibility of encounters with giant Pacific manta rays. While currents can be present, they bring nutrient-rich waters that support an abundance of marine life, making each dive dynamic and rewarding. With a bit of luck, you may witness these majestic mantas soaring effortlessly through the water — an awe-inspiring highlight of any dive.

Immerse yourself in the magic of La Reyna, where dramatic underwater scenery, thriving marine life, and the remote setting of Isla Cerralvo come together to create a truly unforgettable diving adventure.

Please note: during the winter months, this site is often inaccessible due to strong winds and sea conditions. Sightings of giant manta rays are more common from June to September, when conditions are also typically more favorable.
