Gray Whale Expedition

Your Experience

Journey into the wild heart of Baja California on an unforgettable five-day expedition to Magdalena Bay. Each winter, gray whales (Eschrichtius robustus) complete one of the great migrations of the animal world, traveling thousands of kilometers from their northern feeding grounds to the sheltered waters of Baja California, where they mate, give birth, and care for their calves.

Over five days, we will explore Magdalena Bay and spend time observing gray whales in their natural environment. Every day brings a different experience — from mothers traveling with their calves to socializing whales and the unforgettable possibility of curious individuals choosing to approach our boat.

But this expedition goes far beyond the whales. We will explore the spectacular sand dunes and remote coastal landscapes of Magdalena Bay, with time for walks among the dunes and opportunities to discover the wildlife that inhabits this unique desert-meets-ocean ecosystem. Along the way, we may encounter dolphins, coyotes, sea lions, and a remarkable diversity of seabirds and shorebirds.

Between whale encounters, boat explorations, birdwatching, dune walks, and quiet moments surrounded by nature, these five days offer a deeper connection with one of Baja California Sur’s most extraordinary wilderness areas.

Five days shaped by whales, wildlife, desert, and ocean — and by the unexpected encounters that make Magdalena Bay so special.
